This study aims to analyze the suitability of elementary school social studies (IPS) material with 21st-century competencies through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. 21st-century competencies, which include critical, collaborative, communicative, and creative thinking skills (4C skills), are a major requirement in preparing students to face global challenges in the digital age. In the context of the Merdeka Curriculum, social studies subjects play a strategic role in shaping Pancasila Student Profiles that are adaptive, empathetic, and reflective. This study uses the SLR method by analyzing 30 scientific articles indexed by SINTA and Scopus published between 2020 and 2025. The results show that the integration of 21st-century competencies in elementary school social studies learning has increased, but it is not yet evenly distributed across all aspects. Critical thinking and collaboration skills are most often developed through the Project-Based Learning model, while creativity and digital literacy are still underutilized due to limitations in teacher abilities and learning facilities. In addition, authentic assessment and context-based learning have proven effective in fostering social awareness and character values. These findings emphasize the importance of improving teachers' pedagogical and digital competencies, as well as educational policies that support the implementation of competency-based curricula. This study aims to analyze the suitability of the material. Overall, this study recommends the development of a more contextual, collaborative, and 21st-century skills-oriented social studies learning system to produce a generation that is critical, creative, and has a global character.
