Abstract

This study aims to obtain information regarding the role of teachers in shaping students’ character through the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SDN Pasir II. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The subjects consisted of the principal and teachers of SDN Pasir II, who have implemented the Merdeka Curriculum since the 2025/2026 academic year. The results indicate that teachers play a crucial role as facilitators, motivators, and role models in developing students’ character through differentiated learning and the Project for Strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile (P5). The most developed character traits include cooperation, responsibility, independence, and critical thinking. However, the implementation still faces several challenges, such as difficulties in preparing teaching modules that accommodate diverse student characteristics, limited facilities and infrastructure, and a high administrative workload for teachers. Continuous professional development through training and mentoring is essential to enhance teachers’ competence in applying differentiated learning. This study highlights the importance of collaboration among teachers, school leaders, parents, and the community in reinforcing students’ character values to realize the Pancasila Student Profile — students who are faithful, independent, collaborative, critical thinkers, and morally upright.
